From Steve – January II: Chase After God
on January 19, 2017

“The Lord makes firm the steps of the one who delights in Him; though he may stumble, he will not fall, for the Lord upholds him with His hand.” Psalm 37:23-24

I love that verse! I also love hearing what type of impact God’s words have upon others. Recently, my brother was talking with a woman who he led to Christ 40 years ago. I had spoken at her church recently, and my brother told me last week that she talked with him. After hearing what I said, she realized that she needed to get things straight with God spiritually.

We all need that type of encouragement to keep moving forward with God’s will for us. If we do not follow when God instructs, how will we have success in completing God’s will for our lives in the first place?

Friends, we really need to move when God speaks. Actually, we really should be chasing after God! God truly speaks through His Word and He truly speaks through our time with Christian brothers and sisters who hold us accountable. With these two resources, we have solid support beams to help us follow God’s instructions for crossing the “t’s” and dotting the “’i’s” of His incredible will for us.

At the end of the day, when we are literally by ourselves (or we feel figuratively by ourselves even when other people are around us), we truly are never alone. I agree with John Piper’s thoughts on where Jesus positions Himself. “Jesus will stand by you when everyone else is gone. If you are His, you will never be alone.”

Our Heavenly Father, our Audience of One, is calling us to live full lives by simply obeying His words and His will for our lives. This familiar hymn’s chorus line rings still true: “trust and obey, for there’s no other way, to be happy in Jesus, but to trust and obey.”

Today and forever, follow God faithfully by chasing completely and solely after Him!
