10th Annual Memorial Day Community Celebration

Join us on Memorial Day, Monday, May 26 at the Rockingham County Fairgrounds in Harrisonburg, VA, for a day of celebrating faith, family, friendships, and freedom! This is a free-admission event, and everyone is invited to have a great time from 12:00 to 8:00 p.m. All events and activities are also FREE! Just bring your wallet to purchase amazing food from our variety of food vendors. There will be choices to satisfy every palate!

This celebration will have something for the entire family! The day begins with a classic car show featuring an assortment of the most pristine and well-kept marvels of the automotive age. Be sure to peruse local artisans displaying their talents and wares.

For children, we will have an area filled with bouncy inflatables and games, a petting zoo, and facepainting. For teenagers, young adults, and anyone looking for more action, there will be tactical laser tag, an axe-throwing area, and a mechanical bull.

For all who just want to enjoy the day listening to some great music, we are inviting ten local bands and artists to help create the soundtrack for this amazing day. The bluegrass band “Blue Mountain Sunrise” will be playing their brand of country music while teaching line dancing as well!

The culmination of this fun day will begin at 6:00 p.m. as we all gather together to honor our veterans and first responders, watch an amazing performance by Tucker Rodkey from Painting Freedom Ministries, and, finally, to prepare for an awesome concert performed Dove Award nominee Jordan Feliz.

VOLUNTEERS

We are looking for individuals who are willing to be the hands and feet of Jesus and better serve our wonderful community during the celebration. Serving does not mean that you will not be able to enjoy and partake in the activities; if you want to serve for one or two hours, that is perfectly fine. We are asking for your help in any of the following areas: KidZone helper and inflatable games attendant, cruise-in registration, parking attendant, photographer, resource table attendant, and security. We are also looking for people to serve as counselors when individuals wish to make the greatest decision of their lives – to repent and trust in the Lord Jesus Christ. There will be a virtual training event on Tuesday, May 20 at 6:30 p.m. via Zoom to go over the expectations of volunteer counselors. It takes a lot of Christ-like minded people on a soul saving mission to host an event of this magnitude.  If you would be willing to stand shoulder to shoulder and serve with us, please click here.
