Dear Friend,
The Fourth of July is upon us. Independence Day is a joyous time to celebrate the birth of our great nation, the hard-fought-for freedoms we too often take for granted, and the American spirit. As we commemorate and delight in our independence from tyranny, it is my earnest prayer that we would seek to become more dependent – not on government or man, but on the source of life and joy. In 2 Chronicles 7:14 (KJV), God beautifully says, “If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.” This is an explicit promise from the Lord that He can and will restore our land and redeem our lives!
As we celebrate our independence with picnics, swimming, baseball, and beautiful displays of dazzling fireworks, may we also celebrate our dependence on the great Light of the World.
Blessings,
