From Steve – July I
on June 30, 2017

I can hardly believe we are already into July. I enjoyed many wonderful moments last month. At the top of the list would be time spent with my family. My daughter and son-in-law, Michele and Howard, spent a week in Virginia with their family in June. When they come to stay, normally my son David’s family also stays over so we have a houseful. It is filled with much activity, and you’ll have to take my word for this, but it is not quiet and I love every minute of it. I’ll also confess though that there is a reason you have children when you’re younger, and you learn to thank God when you see their headlights and also when you see their taillights!

“I have no greater joy than to hear that my children are walking in the truth.” III John 4

I do not have words to express the thrill of walking into Katie Anne’s room and seeing her reading her Bible and writing in her journal. I loved having deep and meaningful spiritual conversations with Phin and Lawrence.

Time around the Wingfield table with family to share a meal together is one of my favorite things. We are not there just to eat, but to share life with each other. I am convinced that since food is a necessity of life, it should also be enjoyed with family and friends. Something special happens within the walls of your home when you sit around the table together, talking, listening, laughing, and even crying together at times. My word to each of you is do not give up this tradition. If it is not a tradition in your home, start it now. No TV, no radio, no cell phone, no iPad, just uninterrupted time with family and friends. Cherish it, protect it, and share it!

Blessings,

Steve
