Dear Friends,
Joy to the world, the Lord is come.
Let earth receive her King.
Let every heart, prepare Him room.
And heaven and nature sing, and heaven and nature sing.
(Isaac Watts)
As I think about this popular Christmas carol, I see it less as a seasonal song sung around the world, and more as a declaration of hope. Unfortunately, many people are not “preparing Him room.” As a matter of fact, a lot of folks are more than likely saying, “We do not have room for you.”
Who is responsible for bringing the truth to a world turning its back to Jesus? Many will point to the government and the systematic ways that Christianity has been given a negative connotation in society. While this is very troubling, our elected officials cannot be the ones responsible for helping us focus on Jesus and returning to our first love. The answer is quite simple: You and I, believers in Christ and ardent enthusiasts of the Savior, are the ones whom God has chosen to spread the love and mercy found in Jesus.
The Christmas season is a fantastic witnessing opportunity. Many Christmas carols tell the amazing story of a Messiah who loves us so much that He was willing to leave Heaven to come to Earth; a Savior whose birth, life, death, and resurrection is the greatest story ever told. It is a moment in history that changed the world and eternity for so many.
This Christmas season, make it a point to celebrate the birth of your personal Savior, telling others about His mercy and grace.
Blessings,
Steve
