Steve enjoyed his time thoroughly while sharing at Freedom Baptist Church in Harrisonburg, Virginia, on Sunday, January 29 at the church’s 11 a.m. service. “It was a great encouragement to be there. The people were very receptive, and I was extremely impressed with Dale and this great church community,” Steve stated.
In front of 60 people, Steve demonstrated how the NASCAR Flags are an excellent reminder of how they and we too are able to successfully live for Christ. If life is a racetrack, getting started with Jesus is the greatest, as Steve waved the green flag. By choosing Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior, we are able to accomplish God’s plan that He has in mind for us. At the end of the message, Steve was glad that 2 people made decisions for Jesus!
Steve then showed that the Holy Spirit adds cautious assistance with the yellow flag. Just like racers should know of an accident up ahead, Steve reminded the congregation that we too need to seek God’s presence. When He says “no,” we need to swerve and travel differently, because after all, God is in complete control.
Steve showed the black flag as the reminder of our sin, because we each have fallen short of God’s glory. The great news is that when the red flag waves, it is also a reminder of how Jesus Christ cancelled all of our sins when He died on the cross and rose from death on the third day. This glorious reminder is what Steve desires for people to both choose and promote to others.
The blue flag can be difficult to wave and put into practice. Even Steve knows that too. Yet, it is our responsibility to get out of the way when others are fully following Jesus and perhaps sharing the Good News in different ways. Despite resistance, Steve has successfully shared the gospel at Victory Weekend, knowing that God’s will was greater than man’s. So, when the blue flag is waved by God, be on the look-out for what God is desiring to be accomplished.
The white flag is waved as the final lap around the racetrack. While we may not know the exact date of our final day on Earth, we do know that there will come a day when we are called home to Heaven. So, the checkered flag serves as God’s welcoming reception to us when we enter Heaven. Steve desires that even before that checkered flag is waved, we would be living our lives completely surrendered to God’s will and Jesus’ cause, so that He is easily able to state: “Well done, good and faithful servant!”
In addition to this inspiring message, the congregation recognized and appreciated 7 of their own as our country’s veterans, military personnel, or first responders. Steve publicly awarded each one with a Victory Weekend medal and encouraging literature, and he led the congregation in appreciation of our great nation.
Steve looks forward to what future opportunities God has in store between Wingfield Ministries and Freedom Baptist Church, including the upcoming 5th Annual Memorial Day Community Celebration on May 29, 2017. “I pray that God has so much in store for them in the future,” Steve stated, as he was filled with gratitude for this excellent church visit.
