Jesus was bold when He spoke on earth. In John 8:12 from the NIV, Jesus proclaimed: “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.” The Pharisees of the day (and perhaps there are a few of them still around today) challenged this statement, but Jesus then replied with verse 14: “Even if I testify on my own behalf, my testimony is valid, for I know where I came from and where I am going.”
Jesus was bold in sharing the Good News. Steve joins in this sharing by celebrating Jesus, our Lord and Savior, this Sunday, December 18, at Court Square. All are invited to attend “Christmas on the Square,” a free community event starting at 5 p.m.
This weekend’s event will begin with Christmas caroling. We are thrilled to have this opportunity to publicly celebrate the Reason for the Season! Then, we will light candles, so we encourage you to bring one for yourself and one for a friend who might not have one when we gather.
Placed all around Court Square will be kettles for the Salvation Army. We are grateful for what this incredible organization has already done throughout 2016 for the Harrisonburg-Rockingham County. We also know that they will accomplish much during this Christmas season before 2016 ends. Prayerfully consider how you can support this organization that gives so much assistance to so many people year-round!
Steve will be sharing a message from his heart about the purposes of Christmas. Spanish translation will be provided, so this message will be understood in two languages!
Come and join us in acknowledging Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, as the true Light of the world with us, this Sunday, December 18. When we gather and celebrate Jesus alone, we will lift up a Light that will break through the darkness. Let us shine Jesus’ Light for our community to see and accept this Sunday!
