Father God,

We give You thanks for allowing us to live in a free and democratic society, and we accept the privileges and responsibilities for our independence.

Please grant us wisdom and discernment as we fulfill our important role during this election, and let these principles guide us in choosing the leaders who value our interests and, more importantly, value Yours.  May the vote we cast be for leaders who understand and lead according to Your righteous standards.  Let our votes accomplish Your purposes in our elections, and may the results of this election please You and release Your blessing over this nation.

Protect us from the sins of despair and cynicism, guard us against the idols of false utopias, and strengthen us to demand that politics be a noble calling that serves the common good of all.

May your Spirit move us to act and to love.  We ask this in the most Holy name of all: Jesus.
