Dear Friends,
As Independence Day is only 2 days away, I cannot help but think about heritage. As Americans, we have a mighty heritage to uphold. A heritage full of bravery, sacrifice, and freedom. Personally, I was blessed beyond belief to be born into and raised in a godly family. This is the heritage that I am most proud of and it is my responsibility to ensure that it continues.
Too often, people lose sight of what truly matters. Believing your worth or stature are the things that are passed down to your children has become an epidemic. This is obviously not the truth. The Bible tells us in Psalm 127:3 (NIV), “Behold children are a heritage from the Lord.” In addition, the Bible explains in Proverbs 22:6 (NIV), “Train a child the way he should go; even when he is old he will not depart from it.”
Listen friend, the heritage or legacy that you will leave are the people you have influenced with love and knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. That is what matters most in the end. I promise you, while people share your eulogy, it is not your portfolio they will speak of. Rather, it will be those times of love, compassion, and guidance. What kind of legacy are you writing?
Blessings,
Steve
