What truly makes a Michigan Victory Weekend at Juniper Hills so special? The fabulous fans, the fun feelings all over the campgrounds, the tremendous support from the camp management, and the great tradition Victory Weekend is building at this location.
We just conducted a winning weekend for everyone who attended on August 26 and 27. Over 9,500 enthusiastic and appreciative fans crowded into the field in front of our Victory Weekend stage to enjoy the epic concerts from Jess Zimmerman, Audra McLaughlin, and Charee White. The ladies treated the Friday and Saturday night fans to some fantastic “as-good-as-it-gets” performances.
One standout moment was the awarding of a free Fender Stratocaster guitar to a young man who was thrilled beyond description. We were also blessed to have the help of several reliable volunteers who eased the workload on our team and enjoyed themselves at the same time.
On Saturday night, Vernon Zook spoke to all present, drawing a parallel to the sacrifices made by Jesus to those made by our modern-day warriors and protectors. Even in today’s chaotic world, there is peace and trust to be found in Jesus. Responding to God’s prompting, 23 people raised their hands for choosing Jesus. Team members recall seeing countless others who raised hands briefly but did not keep them, so may God continue to work in their lives as well.
After the message, Vernon honored 30 veterans, military personnel, and first responders with the Victory Weekend’s usual and appreciated moving tribute for their service and dedication to protecting this great nation of ours.
God truly moved in exciting and excellent ways last weekend. Vernon was surprised by a man’s reaction of giving him “thumbs down,” booing him, and yelling, “We want more music!” After speaking with the crowd, Vernon intentionally sought this gentleman out, to give him a book and to have a further conversation. Because of Vernon’s care, the man started to have teary eyes and a much more mellow attitude on life.
After Vernon ministered to that gentleman, a nearby couple asked, “It’s our fourth anniversary, would you pray for us?” So, the couple held hands with Vernon as he prayed for them. This dedication of prayer resulted in a chain reaction where several couples came up and asked Vernon to pray with them. Praise God!
Another aspect of these special features found in Michigan is the Victory Weekend’s team being approachable and immediately responsive to the needs of the people and personally minister to them whenever possible. What a delight it is to see God move in incredible ways, so that is why you can understand our excitement for returning in June 2017!
Until then, may we continue to be lifting up prayers for the Juniper Hills Campgrounds staff members ,and may God continue to reveal Himself and transform all who attend events there too.
