Imagine speaking at the church of the man who you first met as a baby. Steve did not have to imagine it, because he truly experienced it!
“It was beyond description to be giving the message at the church of this man,” Steve explained about his most recent visit to Evergreen Presbyterian Church in Sevierville, Tennessee, on Sunday, July 24, to a group of 189 people. Wesley White, the church’s pastor, is the son of Sam White, a former Encounter Director, who served faithfully years ago at the office.
Steve delivered his signature “flag” sermon, using the colored flags present at NASCAR races to represent every person’s different phase of life and walk with the Lord.
Steve also encouraged the audience to always “Go!” to make disciples. We are all called to help fulfill the Great Commission. As Jesus spoke to His disciples, empowerment came to help bring the Good News around the globe.
After the message, 4 people made decisions for Christ! Steve had the chance to talk with all of them, in order to encourage them in their new-found victory in Christ.
Steve also mentioned: “Numerous people came up to me and stated that they truly appreciated the message. It was a real wonderful time of affirmation.”
Also present in the audience were 14 veterans, military personnel, and local first responders, who were all honored with medals and our customized Victory Weekend bags with encouraging literature.
Steve really enjoyed his first visit to this church. He is eager to return to that congregation!
