Steve spoke at Conestoga Mennonite Church in Morgantown, PA, on Sunday, June 5, to a group of about 120. He also attended a Sunday School class at the church, where the discussion centered upon Habakkuk and the prophet’s role during this time in Biblical history.
In his message, Steve addressed the serious issue of suicides among the military personnel returning from various war zones. Everyone in the audience learned that at Victory Weekend events, our country’s heroes are recognized and affirmed for their sacrifices to protect and defend our nation.
During his message, Steve also shared with the audience about how they could win the race, using the NASCAR Flags for visual explanation.
First, Steve waved the green flag as a commission to go, urging believers to start their race with and for Jesus. Second, Steve showed the yellow flag that represented the Holy Spirit, as we all should be listening when He is speaking to us and use caution while “driving” for and with Jesus.
Third, Steve shared the black flag, representing our sins for breaking the rules on the track. Fourth, Steve then encouraged the group with the red flag, exhibiting how the blood of Jesus speaks over these sins, when we trust and believe in Him as our Lord and Savior.
Fifth, Steve showed the blue flag, displaying sometimes we as “drivers” have to move out of the way and not be an obstacle for others who are sharing Jesus. Sixth, Steve exhibited the white flag, showing that with our final lap in the race, we should be “driving” for and with Jesus to the finish line. Seventh and finally, Steve waved the checked-flag, representing that we have finished the race strong and that God considers us to be good and faithful servants.
After sharing this message, 7 decisions were made for Christ! Steve enjoyed his visit to Conestoga, his wife Barbara’s home church.
Steve’s next speaking commitment will be at the Multnomah Seminary in Portland, Oregon between Tuesday, June 14 and Thursday, June 16. Please be in prayer for his speaking and sharing as he teaches seminary students about the dimensions of Evangelism and the Gospel!
