Think Positive
on July 7, 2015

Negative thoughts can be overcome, there is hope, and we can do it together.

Paul urges us to demolish arguments that come against the knowledge of God and take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ (2 Corinthians 10:5).

There’s evidence that suggests the average number of veterans committing suicide in a day may be higher than twenty-two.  It’s heartbreaking to think that people suffer alone in their minds.  Even if they ask for help, it may go unnoticed, and then suicide becomes the best option out of pain.  This is a battle that can be won!  Your mind is a battlefield and you can create your own network to support you as you win this war with those dark thoughts.

It’s time to put on the full armor of God and realize you’ve got the power to control your mind.  No, it won’t be easy.  Yes, it will take time.  But you can be successful, especially if you allow others to help you.  We weren’t meant to live outside of a community.  Human touch alone is healing–it can reduce stress and anxiety levels in your mind and body.  It’s time to connect with people and stop agreeing with negative thoughts.

Say it with me.

“I’ll get it right this time.”

“I’m going to be true to who I know I’m made to be.”

“I’m waiting to be surprised today.”

We can trust God with all of our thoughts, even the ones we aren’t proud of.  He’s not offended by a sinful mind.  Instead, He encourages us to hand over bad thoughts so He can transform us by renewing our mind.  But while we’re taking captive negative thoughts and handing them to Jesus, I think God also wants us to take captive positive thoughts and hold them in our minds.  What are some of God’s promises that you can repeat in your mind today?  What has He done for you recently that’s worthy of reflection?  What are your dreams, your hopes, your God-given desires?

He’s able to do immeasurably more than all we can ask or imagine.
