Pocono Update
on June 9, 2015

Last weekend at Pocono Raceway was full of touching moments as well as a rockin’ good time with Chareé White and her band.  If you weren’t there, we missed you, but we captured some golden stories to share.  Few things make a bigger impact than taking the time to honor veterans, active duty service members, and local first responders.  We were able to honor 12 people, and their stories will break your heart.

One woman shared that her husband in Nigeria and son in Afghanistan were wounded within weeks of each other.

An ex-marine shared about how his three friends came home in a box in the bottom of a plane.  He asks, “Why did I leave?”

When we came together at Pocono Raceway to honor these people, hope returned to their eyes.  There’s nothing like feeling invisible and then suddenly being seen.  Even if you feel alone, you aren’t.

“It is a dangerous thing to ask why someone else has been given more.
It is humbling – and indeed healthy – to ask why you have been given so much.” ~Condoleezza Rice

How does it make you feel to think about all you’ve been given?  How can you help someone else reflect on all they’ve been given?

Stay tuned–Michigan is coming up this weekend, and we’re hoping to see you there!
