Christmas is one of my favorite times of year! I love all the music, decorations, gifts, good food, and the special times with family and friends. But, if I am forced to pick my favorite part of Christmas, it is the spirit of giving that I see exhibited by so many people. That spirit fills my heart with joy!
In my home church, New Beginnings, there were several tables set up during December where we could give to specific needs. Two tables were set up where you could help two missionary families. There was the angel tree where you could buy gifts for children whose parents are in prison. There was a table where we could give gifts or money to help pregnant, unmarried girls who have chosen to let their child live. There was Toys for Tots and, of course, the Salvation Army Red Kettles.
We must always remember, Jesus is the Reason for the Season!
He gave His life so we could have life and as His representatives we are to be givers. The happiest, most joy-filled people I know are givers. In contrast, the grumpiest, most discontented people I know are people who have never learned the joy of giving. As a parent or grandparent one of your greatest responsibilities and opportunities is to lead by example. Those little eyes are watching and learning from you. May they see you investing in the lives of others. Things really are caught more than taught! I pray that giving will be part of your legacy.
Barb and I are praying for you as you celebrate the birth of our Living, Lord Jesus. We are asking His blessing upon you and your family as we close out 2013 and look forward to the beginning of a New Year filled with opportunities and challenges. We wish to “Represent Jesus Well” in all we do and say.
Thank you for your friendship and partnership in ministry. Please join me in praying for the greatest harvest of souls we have ever experienced in 2014. If you have not visited our webpage, please take 5 minutes and go to stevewingfield.org. I would like you to watch my year-end video.
