Dear friends,
May is here! Can you believe it? After that polar vortex and record-breaking cold weather, did you ever think that the warm weather was going to return? The warmer temperatures stir up a lot of excitement within this ministry. It means that the Victory Weekend schedule is in full gear and that the Memorial Day Community Celebration will soon be here.
The 7th annual Memorial Day Community Celebration will be held on Monday, May 27, 2019, at the Rockingham County Fairgrounds starting at 4 p.m. We have a wonderful day full of fun for everyone planned. There will be a classic car and truck show, a tethered RE/MAX hot air balloon, Vertical Kids Ministry will have incredible activities for the children, food vendors serving great food, and live music performances featuring talented artists. We will also be taking time to honor the brave men and women who have selflessly given of themselves: our veterans, active military personnel, and first responders. Finally, I will have the utmost privilege to share a message of the hope only found in Jesus with those in attendance.
We have also added a new component to an already amazing Memorial Day weekend. The night before, Sunday, May 26 from 5 p.m. – 7 p.m., we will be holding a Youth Rally at the fairgrounds. Bring your teenagers and their friends, as they will join other teenagers from throughout the valley in an evening of praise. There will also be a message that will encourage them to realize the plan that God has for their future while leaving the past behind them. It will be an important night for our young people.
I urge you to pray over our team as we make the final preparations for this weekend of ministry. I also strongly encourage you to be a part of this event. Invite family members and friends, whoever you think would enjoy this celebration and needs to be “loved on” by the body of Christ.
