Daytona Report
on February 23, 2018

“You are the light of the world. A town on a hill cannot be hidden.”  Matthew 5:14

The 2018 Victory Weekend season is off and running, and we felt the Lord working at the Brown’s Speedweeks Campground during our time in Daytona Beach, Florida. The Victory Weekend team, volunteers, and our special guests Levi Riggs and the Jess Zimmerman Band had the honor of sharing our Jesus to the 2,000 awesome race fans at the campground for the Daytona 500.

All weekend you could feel the excitement in the air. We expected great things, we asked and invited the Lord to be there, and He showed up in a major way. We met many folks who had been to Victory Weekend events at other venues previously, and we made many new friends. It is this interaction and relationship building that allows us to reach them and express the love and grace of Jesus.

Our dear friends in ministry, Levi Riggs and the Jess Zimmerman Band, offered their talents to give the race fans some memorable concerts. The fans thoroughly enjoyed every moment of the Victory Weekend events; you could tell by the thousands of smiles! Fans sang along with Levi and Jess from the start of each concert until they ended. We had the awesome ability to give away a custom American flag guitar autographed by the performers. A company who believes in the Victory Weekend ministry graciously provided the prize! We also had the opportunity to give race fans a unique experience. Thanks to the people at McGregor Racing Simulators, race fans were able to experience firsthand how it feels to be behind the wheel of a race car. Many people took advantage of this opportunity, and the response was phenomenal. We are hoping to make the racing simulator a regular part of the Victory Weekend experience.

This amazing weekend culminated in a ceremony that honored the brave men and women who serve us all—our veterans, active military, and first responders. We honored 45 heroes with a medal, a gift bag, and a thunderous ovation of applause and gratitude. Following this, Vernon Zook shared with those in attendance a message of hope that can only be found in Christ Jesus. We are blessed tremendously that we saw 30 first-time decisions for Jesus that night, and we pray that the Lord will continue to work in each of their lives.

The Daytona Victory Weekend was a success, and we thank God daily for those who attended, volunteered, and prayed for everything that happened during the event.
