Memorial Day Community Celebrations

Every year on Memorial Day, we host our Annual Memorial Day Community Celebration in Rockingham County, VA, to honor those who died while serving in the U.S. Armed Forces and to recognize the men and women who who have served this great nation in the U. S. military or on the local police force, fire department, or rescue squad. All of these people have laid their lives on the line to protect or rescue others and deserve our gratitude.  Each veteran and first responder in attendance is medaled during a touching, meaningful service.

In addition to honoring our American heroes, Steve Wingfield or others share powerful messages of faith and salvation in Jesus Christ.  All who raise their hands to accept or recommit their lives to Christ are personally prayed with and each receives a free book to encourage them and spur them forward in their faith journey.

A tremendous amount of planning and preparing goes into these events by our small team, beginning months earlier.  Usually between 2,000 and 3,000 folks from the community come to hear fantastic live music, enjoy a variety of food vendors, and give their children an opportunity to get their faces painted, receive a balloon animal, and play on the inflatable slides.

An event of this magnitude takes a substantial number of people who share a common vision and purpose.  We owe our utmost gratitude to the local churches, businesses, and individuals who partner with us through sponsorships or volunteer service. These events would be impossible without them.
