“When it comes to speaking with college students, you really have to win the right to be heard.” Steve put his own words into practice with his recent chapel message at 10 a.m. at Southern Wesleyan University (SWU) in Central, South Carolina on Monday, November 28, 2016. Those in attendance included 700 students, faculty, and staff, and Steve’s message opened with showing the video for the Lodestar Guidance principle of accountability.

Steve shared his unique message entitled: “Your Purpose In Life.” Steve was eager to connect with the SWU students first, which he accomplished successfully. With a specific desire in mind, Steve spoke not just with words, but also with the action of planting seeds into the lives of these young Christian students to rise up into the next generation’s Christian leaders. “Anytime that I have to speak with them, I do not take it lightly. I wanted to make a meaningful touch and see them commit themselves as servants and the next generation of sharers of the gospel.”

Looking back at this speaking opportunity, Steve was excited to see all that God is completing at SWU. “The campus is growing significantly, and the community is growing too. It was an honor to be a part of it.” Steve’s personal connections with SWU include being long-time friends with Dr. Todd Voss, as well as David, Steve’s son, being great friends with Dr. Voss’s son too. “I believe the school has a very bright future ahead of it,” Steve shared about how Dr. Voss is successfully leading this Christian institution.

Even evangelists gain new lessons while sharing God’s Word! Steve stated: “I really felt like it was a call again to invest in a new generation. I am not sure how or what that looks like now, but it will be very good moving forward in that generation with God.”
