From Steve – Dover Report

Dover (May 2015)

Steve and the Victory Weekend team had a great time at the Dover International Speedway’s legendary Lot 10 during the weekend of May 13.

On Friday afternoon, Steve and Dale visited Dover AFB with several drivers, including Josh Reaume, Cody Ware and Blake Koch. The drivers signed autographs and our team gave away books as we greeted military and civilians alike at this special friend-making gathering.

On Friday evening, Charee White and Jess Zimmerman and her band wowed the crowd with their high energy performances despite the rain. They were joined on the Victory Weekend stage Saturday night by Audra McLaughlin as they entertained a crowd, which was estimated to be over 3,000.

The Victory Weekend stage was active on Saturday, with the performers and also as Vernon Zook presented an inspirational message to the race fans. About 100 people indicated a life-changing decision for Christ. We also honored 44 men and women for their service in the military or as first-responding in law enforcement, firefighters and emergency personnel. The traditional fireworks spectacular went off around 10 p.m., as our performers paused to enjoy the show and resumed playing until after 11.

Before all the activities of Saturday night got underway, Steve conducted a “cowboy church” service for about 30 members of our group. He spoke from Ephesians 6, encouraging everyone to be vigilant in their spiritual lives and to be ready to pray with confidence in any situation.

Next up for the Victory Weekend team is our fourth annual Memorial Day Celebration in Harrisonburg, Monday May 30, starting at 4 p.m., followed by the next race in Michigan, which is June 10-12. Come out for either event, as all are welcome!
